The concept of racial and cultural appropriation has become most discussed among the people of the world today, the question of what is appropriate for one to wear cannot be over emphasized and why has it become seemingly compulsory for black women to perm or wear wigs to look beautiful.
However the white women are making a come back on what they once deemed nappy and unattractive. prove is that the this week allure magazine posted a brief article, teaching 'straight haired women' ( white women, as though we wouldn't understand) how to grow Afro.

On august 3, a black woman on tumblr and twitter however called out the tutorial of allure magazine for being inaccurate and racially insensitive. ...white model and actress Marissa neitling was pictured wearing a corkscrew curls, hardly an Afro.
What a missed opportunity by @Allure_magazine to actually talk about afro hair...to girls who actually have it. pic.twitter.com/qO6kOLoUDW

The lo-cing hair is of religious importance in Rastafarianism and the box braid can be traced to ancient African civilization.
The Afro came to prominence in the 1960s as a statement of pride and of self love in direct answer to white supremacy. It was a time when black women enjoyed and walked about prided with an astonishing feeling of beauty and self worth, on the other hand white women got jealous of the hair that defies gravity and in resultant did to us what they know how to do best( make us develop the feeling of self hate). We are not good enough, our hair is kinky and hard so must be soften by perming, our skin color. .. .

Its however not okay for white women to wear hair styles traditionally worn by black women(not racism). aside from the spiritual, religious and cultural values attached to wearing some of this hair styles when white wear them they do so without the stigma of actually being black.
No. No. No to the last one. when black women straighten their hair or dye it blonde we are not "appropriating white hairstyles"__ It is not the same thing. The word you are looking for is assimilation. White hair is the norm. it is the societal ideal. We are only conforming to the societal ideal and as a matter of necessity.
